HAUNTED - Bolo Tie
With “HAUNTED” I infused multiple craft forms and my love for playful visual art into the classic bolo tie. Infusing the technical processes metal manipulation and woodworking with the kitschy, cartoon-like aesthetic of a haunted house creates an intriguing contrast bound to spark anyones imagination.
“HAUNTED” shows both an honesty and dishonesty to materials. Using treated copper showing only peaks of it makes for a beautiful display of stylized ware and tear while aluminum and, leather and sapele are unveiled with little to no finishing. With metal manipulation processes such as chemical etching, sandblasting, chasing, riveting, soldering, prisma color on copper, champelvé, liver of sulfur, and so much more I was able to methodically create this playfully, haunted little bolo tie.
